so i'm in day two of lasik eye surgery recovery and things are going very well. i'm not sure i can even say it's recovery. the only thing i can't do is wear mascara, rub my eyes, or go swimming. otherwise, i'm unrestricted and fabulous.
i would like to preface this story by letting everyone who had done the procedure before and told me how easy it was to go out and eff themselves. and while my right eye WAS in fact easy and painless, my left was not. it burned through the entire procedure and felt like hot glass was being scraped over it for the following 3 hours. then came the endless eye watering, which set off a chain reaction to my sinuses. i had an hour + ride home from raleigh, holding my face, unable to talk, and meditating over a strange mantra that i've never used before. all the while on valium. i feel as though this portion of the show was a glimpse into my most fabulous self. and i should probably apologize now to shand who was nice enough to be my driver and seeing eye guide following surgery.
i will say, however, that in the few hours the burning and watering passed, my eyes were amazing. i went to bed with the help of the valium from the procedure and the ambien and woke up clear eyed and able to see. i had a follow up appt yesterday morning and after the eye tests and check up, i was told i now have 20/13 vision. i could be a fighter pilot, if i chose to consider a career change. all in all, it's truly remarkable the clear and amazing vision i now have. aside from having to use a few eye drops 4 times a day for a week, i'm fully recovered and have to say it's one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
just watch out for the GIANT. LASER. BEAMS.
